General practices: RACGP
The fifth-edition standards cover CPR training for clinical staff (GP3.1►A) and non-clinical staff (C8.1►B). The minimum practice interval is three years; professional bodies may require more frequent training.
RACGP guidance specifies ARC-aligned CPR, AED use and physical assessment on a floor-level manikin. For GP CPD, the course must last at least one hour. Online-only CPR is insufficient.

Action 8.11 requires arrangements for timely access to a clinician able to deliver advanced life support. Workforce competence and appropriate paediatric skills form part of those arrangements. Training is one part of the organisation's emergency response system.
Our ALS and PALS courses support skills development and assessment. Your organisation determines which certificates it accepts, how often staff refresh their skills and how it ensures clinical coverage.

Aged care: workforce competence
Outcome 2.9 of the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards addresses the skills, competence and support workers need for their roles. It does not prescribe a single ALS certificate for every worker. Plan response training alongside residents' care plans, escalation procedures and staff scope of practice.

Professional development
Nurses and midwives generally need at least 20 hours of relevant CPD for each registration they hold. Doctors generally need 50 hours annually, with requirements for activity types and a CPD home; exemptions can apply. Record learning, reflection and its relevance to practice.
Our listed hours are planned learning hours. [RACGP / ACRRM activity IDs pending] Accreditation and CPD category allocation have not been confirmed. Check with your CPD home before relying on a course for a particular requirement.

ANZCOR: how training is designed
Our outlines use practical skills, feedback and team scenarios. ANZCOR guidance supports physical BLS assessment, blended ALS learning and frequent refresher practice. The full ALS day is distinct from a short recertification session for experienced clinicians.

What a training record contains
- Participant name, course, date and completed learning hours
- Assessment result and whether the certificate records competency or attendance
- The guideline version used and educator details
- A group record for your manager, plus a recommended refresher plan
Certificate acceptance and refresher intervals depend on the employer and professional body. Our courses do not issue ARC ALS2 certificates or nationally recognised HLTAID units.
